In short: CozyFixer is an independent home repair and improvement website. We publish clear, safety-first guides that help everyday homeowners and renters fix common problems, maintain their homes and know when a job calls for a licensed professional.
Why we started CozyFixer
Most home problems are smaller than they look. A dripping faucet, a running toilet, a furnace that won’t start on a cold morning: these moments feel stressful, and the internet is full of advice that’s either too vague to follow or too technical to trust. We started CozyFixer to close that gap with practical, plain-English guides that walk you through a fix one step at a time and tell you honestly when to stop and call for help.
Our goal is simple. When you leave a CozyFixer guide, you should understand what’s going on in your home, know exactly what to try first, and feel confident about your next step, whether that’s grabbing a screwdriver or picking up the phone.

How we create our guides
Every guide on CozyFixer follows the same standards:
- Researched carefully. We base our guides on manufacturer instructions, building code basics and guidance from trusted public sources such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, the CDC and the National Fire Protection Association. Where we cite specific numbers or recommendations, we link to or name the source.
- Written for real homes. We explain the why behind each problem, list the tools you’ll need, and break every fix into clear, numbered steps.
- Safety first. Every guide includes safety notes and a clear “when to call a pro” section. Work involving gas, electrical panels, structural changes, refrigerant or heights is always flagged.
- Kept up to date. Products, prices and best practices change. We review our guides and update them when better information becomes available.
- Independent. Our recommendations are not for sale. We may display advertising to keep CozyFixer free, but advertisers never influence what we write.
What CozyFixer is not
CozyFixer provides general information to help you understand and maintain your home. It is not a substitute for an inspection or advice from a licensed plumber, electrician, HVAC technician, contractor or other qualified professional who can see your situation in person. Local codes and permit requirements vary, so always check what applies where you live. You can read more in our Disclaimer.
Corrections and feedback
We work hard to get things right, but if you spot an error, a step that didn’t work for you, or information that’s out of date, we want to hear about it. Send us a note through our contact page and choose “Report a correction.” We review every report and update our guides when needed.
